Two Birds Cafe, Collingwood

Brunch is my favourite meal of the day by far, and my weekends are precious because I need to pick wisely on where I decide to try. One of my lovely friends' sister and brother-in-law have just re-opened up Two Birds Cafe, tucked away just off Gertrude and Smith St in Collingwood, so it made my weekly decision very easy last weekend.

Real Techniques Bold Metals: Worth The Hype?

In recent weeks, you may have seen sneak peeks of the latest addition to the Real Techniques line by Sam and Nic Chapman of the YouTube channel, pixiwoo. The highly anticipated Bold Metals collection is undoubtedly stunning aesthetically (with a price tag to match), but are they as good as they look?

Zomato / SOS Charcoal Seafood Restaurant Launch

If you think of yourself as a bit of a foodie like me, then you'll probably be aware that the Urbanspoon app has been taken over by Zomato, which is an already established and very similar service headquartered in India, but with a presence globally. As part of the Australian launch, Zomato host a number of events where eating is the main activity (yes!!) and I had the pleasure of attending the opening of new restaurant SOS Charcoal Seafood on Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.

Recent Empties #2

I've had a bag full of empty bottles and tubes lying around for a while now so I thought it was about time I gathered them all together into one post. I have a bit of everything including makeup, skincare and hair but I'll start off with the makeup items as I never seem to have many of those..

A Special Evening: FOTN + OOTN

I'm back!! I did not mean to have a mini writing break, however I moved house about 3 weeks ago and my disorganised self did not get around to queuing any decent posts in the lead up. I do have several lined up now though so if I manage to polish them all up, it'll be back to weekly content hopefully!

In late June I spent a very special evening with my other half, to celebrate half a decade of memories together. We decided to dine at No35 in the Sofitel on Collins St, which had been on my list of places to try for at least 2 years!

An Intimate Evening with Impulse: Fragrance Education Dinner

Last week I had the privilege to attend an intimate evening hosted by the Impulse Fragrance and their publicity team. You may remember that I shared a post here when they first relaunched late last year. To refresh your memory, the new scents were created by globally renowned fragrance developer Ann Gottlieb, who has also crafted some of the world's best loved scents including Marc Jacobs Daisy and Christian Dior J'Adore.

My Latest Obsession: Skincare in a Capsule

I am generally fairly conservative with my skincare products and like to stick to what I know. I don't usually stray too far from Kiehl's, Avene, La Roche-Posay, Lancome or Clinique but the girls looking after MonoDermà in Australia managed to convince me to give the brand a go. I was more curious than anything and I have to say that I have not been this intrigued by a new product in a long time!

Strictly Ballroom the Musical

I've been hooked to seeing musicals since I saw my first two last year (Wicked and Les Miserables), and Lion King in March this year. When I was given the opportunity to see Strictly Ballroom the Musical through the lovely ladies at Nuffnang, I was all over it. I love Baz Lurhmann's eccentric style and I actually studied the film as part of my English curriculum back in high school. You know when you're forced to analyse something over and over, and by the end you absolutely cannot stand it? Well, that was all I could remember about Strictly Ballroom. But 7 years down the track, I was actually quite eager to see a production that I had had such fond (...) memories of.

Weekend Away: Country Escape

Over the Easter long weekend I was so thankful to be able to escape to a lovely winery in the Macedon Ranges for some much needed down time. The weather was beautiful and the countryside was extra quiet with many towns closing over the Easter period.

2015 Food Adventures

The first quarter of 2015 has already flown by - what?! I spent a large majority of the time eating and since I haven't done one of my food posts for over half a year, I thought it was time for another edition. Will try to recall as much as I can with my goldfish memory...

Happy Easter!

Happy long weekend!!!

Working life means I live for public holidays and long weekends for a short break every now and then. This year I prepared a little Easter themed morning tea for the team to mark the occasion, complete with fluffy chicks!

Recent Empties (Lancome, Benefit, Urban Decay, Dior + more)

I always try to keep all my empty products aside once I'm done with something and make a mental note to throw it all into one big empties blog post. Recently I was going through my products and thought, right that's it, I have accumulated a ridiculous amount and the empty packaging just has to go! I've got a mix of makeup items, skincare and hair products that I've used up in the last few months and will share my overall thoughts on the item. Most of these have been featured in previous posts so it's also interesting for me to see how/if my thoughts have changed.

Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen 2014-15

In an attempt to revive my blog after an (unexpected) 2 month hiatus, I thought I would share some of my photos from my Dec/Jan travels to Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen.

My favourite view, on the ferry from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui.

2014: The Year That Was

Although I started and ended 2014 the same way - both overseas on holidays, the 12 months in between couldn't have changed me more as a person. The past year was the biggest roller coaster ride of my life yet. I faced some of the most intense, heartbreaking and depressing moments but also experienced so much growth, personal development and understanding of self.

I embarked on a month-long whirlwind adventure to Japan, China, Cambodia and Vietnam with my family and friends. I began my first full-time job after graduating university. I made stupid decisions. I made mistakes. I lost a best friend. I re-evaluated my life decisions. I learnt the value of true friendship. I mapped out my future goals. I made better decisions.

Here's to moving on from the past and starting fresh in 2015.

Happy New Year!

Lash Extensions: My Experience

About a month ago the lovely Theo from Theodora's Beauty Boutique kindly invited me to try out their eyelash extension service. Having always been curious about lash extensions for my short and straight lashes, I was more than happy to plod along to the Hawthorn salon on a Saturday morning. I tweeted a quick first impression the day after and had several requests to share my thoughts and my experience. I wanted to wait a few weeks to provide a well-rounded review on how well the extensions wear. I was told that I would be due for a refill in about 3 weeks depending on care.

Christmas Gift Guide 2014

I love the end of the year for so many reasons. Not only does everyone seem to be in great spirits, but so do the streets! I love walking along the shops and seeing festive decorations everywhere. It is such a lovely time to spend with family and friends, and reflect on the year. Something else I love are the Christmas collections that many brands release. I have picked out a couple of my favourite recent items that have launched that would make for perfect Christmas gifts. There is a bit of everything girly including makeup, skincare, scents and a book.

New In: LUMA Cosmetics by Jessica Hart

Whenever a celebrity launches a skincare or cosmetics line, I am always curious about the products and especially the quality. The latest person to jump on board with their own release is Australian model Jessica Hart with LUMA Cosmetics. I have had the opportunity to give several of these products a go and thought I would share my thoughts and first impressions.

My Hair + Giveaway!

It's been quite a long time since I've gone into detail about my hair so I thought it was about time I do an update. I have been colouring my hair regularly for almost 4 years now and have gone progressively lighter from a dark, chocolate brown. About 2 months ago, I reached a turning point in my life and decided to start going darker again. This is the shade I ended up with - a brown with a tinge of red.

Melbourne Cup: Spring Racing Carnival

Another year, another birthday. Feels like just a few months ago that I was in the middle of my final semester university exams, pre-graduation and celebrating my 21st birthday. How has the last year gone by so quickly? The last year was without a doubt the most up and down 12 months of my life to date. So much happened so quickly. I went through some huge personal issues over the past half year and while I'm back on track now, I've managed to lose a few things really dear to my heart.
