Be Impulsive

I've been feeling a little under the weather recently and haven't found the motivation to blog.. but I received a surprise send out from Impulse Fragrances earlier this week and it was just what I need to have me bouncing again to share these cute little scents.

Tesselaar Tulip Festival 2014

Every Spring, my social media feeds are always littered with beautiful images of tulips in every colour under the rainbow. Every year I have wanted to go, but every year I've managed to miss out. I nearly missed it again having only found out the dates during the week it was ending, but I finally managed to check out the Tesselaar Tulip Festival this year.

Pink Out Loud Spring Look + Giveaway!

For me, Spring time used to be synonymous with the dreaded hayfever season. Now that I have been taking undergoing a desensitization immunotherapy process to treat my allergic rhinitis for the past few years, I am able to enjoy Spring a whole lot more.

As usual, ELES have put together a beautiful Spring Look with the main feature being the gorgeous, bright pop of pink colour on the lips. It's been a few seasons since I've done a complete post using only ELES. I already had almost all of the key products in this season's Beauty Trend look so I thought it was only fitting that I have a go at recreating it.

Currently Dreaming: Shoes/Accessories

Another weekend... another wishlist. In my favourite jewellery items post I mentioned that I have a penchant for luxury accessories and this list certainly shows it. Although I do plenty of online browsing and dreaming, I do tend to mull things over for several months before purchasing any luxury items, just to make sure I won't be bored of them quickly. Most of the pieces below have been in the back of my mind for a long time now!

Lancome New Launches: Visionnaire and Grandiose

For me, the Lancôme name is synonymous with offering an exceptional skincare range as well as its renowned mascaras. I was recently provided the opportunity to attend an event for the launch of two exciting new additions to the family: the new and improved Visionnaire [LR 2412 4%] Cx Advanced Skin Correcter, and the new mascara Grandiôse.

Food Adventures: 2014 Highlights So Far

You might remember I used to write monthly food posts. For some reason, after I came home from overseas in January, I became lazy and eventually my food photos accumulated on my phone serving no purpose. I thought I may as well share some of the highlights throughout this year. I'll try my best to provide a description but my memory is so poor that I doubt I'll be able to remember...

Top 5 Luxury Lipsticks

Following on from last week's favourite jewellery items, I thought I would keep with the theme and share my top 5 luxury lipstick brands/formulas. Lip products are without a doubt my favourite makeup item. I don't wear them nearly enough, considering the amount I have, because I drink so much tea/coffee during the day and am always too lazy to reapply! The below are numbered but in no particular order.

Favourite Jewellery Pieces

Some people spend all their money on shoes... some people spend all their money on clothes. I have no troubles with staying on the high street for shoes and clothes but much prefer to splurge on accessories like bags and jewellery. Today I thought I would share a selection of my favourite pieces, many of which I wear on an everyday basis. Most of the time my jewellery costs more than my entire outfit!

Rimmel x Rita Ora Collection

When I heard about the Rimmel London and Rita Ora Colour Rush Lip and Nail Collection, I was more than a little excited. Not only is Rimmel one of my favourite drugstore brands, I was keen to see what fun and quirky shades Rita Ora had put together.

The collection features 6 shades of the Intense Colour Balms (RRP $12.95) and 6 new hot and cool shades of the 60 Seconds Nail Polishes (RRP $7.95) created by Rita Ora. The pop art inspired cap on the polishes are in a fun postage stamp style.

Currently Dreaming: Bags

About a year ago, I wrote a handbag wishlist in the lead up to my 21st birthday. I spoilt myself last year and am now coveting some new bags!

1. Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag
In the past, I've always preferred very structured and classic style bags. This gorgeous bag has been trending for some time now and though it's different to my usual picks, I haven't been able to resist it's soft, effortlessly chic look. I love the black with red contrast though there are so many other beautiful colour combinations too.

Winter Favourites

Following up from my recent Winter FOTD, I thought it would be appropriate to share my favourite Winter products this year - mainly skincare. I have been using so many fabulous products that have really made me feel pampered, and it's only fitting that I give credit where it's due.

With Rachel McAdam, Scientific Communications & Education Manager from LRP and Kerri of Beauty & Things

In June, I was fortunate enough to be invited along for the La Roche-Posay product launch for Redermic [R] Dermatological Corrective Concentrate and improved formula of the Effaclar Duo Plus. Some fancy names I know - so what does it all mean?

FOTD: Rosy Winter Look

Now well and truly in the coldest, darkest days of Melbourne's winter, I find myself really rugging up and not wanting step out into the harsh, chilling weather. Unfortunately I don't have much of an option, having to leave the house before it hits 8am everyday. I do however like to take some time in the morning to 'fake a glow' and look less miserable than I feel.

I have been trying out some new, mainly affordable drugstore products recently and thought I would share some of these items. It's a quick routine but I like to give myself about half an hour in the morning to take my time, rather than be in a rush.

Skincare and Hair Empties

It's crazy that in my years of blogging, I have never done an 'empties' post before. Considering these are some of my favourite posts to read, it amazes me that this is my first own one. I always like hearing people's thoughts after finishing items - obviously if something has been used up, it has to have been at least decent! In the past, I have generally thrown finished products out straight away and hardly ever thought to keep it aside. This is therefore an accumulation of various skincare and hair products I've used up in the last few months.

Cambodia and Vietnam 2014

It's been almost half a year since I came back from my month of Asian adventures and while I've briefly documented my Japanese and Chinese travels, I've been slack on the Cambodian and Vietnamese front. My friend who I met at uni is an international student from Vietnam and kindly offered for me to stay with her family in Ho Chi Minh City and also take a tour to Cambodia. So half way during my stay in China, I took a week's break and headed down south.

The Answer To My Dry Lips

Back to basics for today's post, talking all things lip balm. For the past half year or so, I've been battling with dry, flaky and generally unattractive lips. I've never suffered from anything similar in this area before so it was quite unexpected. In the past, I would use lip balm occasionally but certainly not on a regular basis throughout the day. The only thing that comes to mind is the Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm, gift from France from my lovely friend. I used this every evening for about a year before I slept and by morning it would have sunk in. I am wondering whether the constant use of the Nuxe balm caused my lips to dry out? If so, I'm devastated because I loved the product itself! Regardless, I've taken a break from using it. In the meantime, I've tried countless products, both high and low end, almost in desperation to find something that would combat my problem. I thought I would share my thoughts on some of the products that have been part of my journey to find the perfect solution.

Night Out Makeup - Wicked and Armin

I don't think I'd be alone in saying that the makeup and getting ready routine is half the fun of an evening out. I thought I would share two of my more dramatic looks from the past month.

The first look was my face for the Armin Only Intense tour, a crazy night that had me limping home and sleeping at 11am the next morning. Being my first trance/rave event, I wasn't sure what to expect but it definitely ended up being a night to remember. The energy from the crowd right through til the early hours of the morning was infectious and my friend and I ended up running from Hisense Arena to Flinders St at 5am... don't even ask!

Alternatives to Clarisonic!

This post has been in the works for a long time coming... since last year! I've been playing around with several different cleansing tools that are reminiscent of the cult classic - the Clarisonic. In the past year or so I've noticed countless versions popping up from various brands, both high end and low end. Having never tried the Clarisonic but always curious about its benefits, I didn't hesitate to check out the more affordable versions. While I can't provide a direct comparison with the classic tool, I can still share my thoughts on those that I have tried.

For those who don't know how these curious devices work, think of them as a giant electric toothbrush that cleanses your face. Rather than manually applying cleanser and washing it off, these brushes will penetrate deeper to really reach the dirt and grime stuck within the pores and crevices beneath the top layer of your skin. The idea is to hold the brush head over certain areas of your face (forehead, cheeks, chin etc) for about 10 seconds at a time before moving on to the next. Afterwards your skin should feel squeaky clean (but hopefully not too tight) and well exfoliated.

Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System

I purchased this not long after its release last year during a Chemist Warehouse sale. The retail price is around $35.00 however I managed to grab it for about $25.00 which is an absolute steal. It comes with one brush head, a battery and a mini cleanser to get you started. To be honest I never used the cleanser but I'm sure it's decent considering Olay are a renowned skincare brand as well. I've been using this one for over half a year now, for about 2 or 3 times a week (the recommended frequency).

Klorane Mango Range

I remember when dry shampoo first rose to popularity a few years ago and there were only a few in the market to choose from, one of them being Klorane. Now, the cult product has exploded and every hair care brand has one... long gone are the days of wondering 'what is dry shampoo?'. Klorane was the first one I ever tried and although I distinctly remember really liking it, for some reason I never expanded to trying out any other Klorane hair products. When these items lit up my doorstep in their vibrant orange colour, I immediately swapped them into my shower. After all, who can say no to mango scented products?!

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

It's hard to believe that we're almost reaching halfway through 2014! It's the beginning of May now and that means Mother's Day is just around the corner. If you haven't already picked up something special for the most important woman in your life, here are a few skincare/fragrance ideas to get you started!

I'm a huge fan of sheet masks during the colder months so I've been treating myself with Lonvitalite every weekend. If I know you in real life, you may have received some startling Snapchats from me during my mask sessions! The masks are fantastic and really absorb well into my skin. The great thing about these Mother's Day packs are that they only cost $35.00 and contain the entire range of Lonvitalite masks. This covers everything from a facial, hand treatment and eye treatment - perfect for the overworked mother in dire need of a pamper session! I would also highly recommend it as the ultimate pack for yourself if you're interested in trying out Lonvitalite masks.
