First Aid Beauty!

For the past few months I've been hearing so much about First Aid Beauty products from our American YouTuber friends. I was always curious about the products but just assumed it was an American drugstore skincare line, completely unaware that Australia stocked the brand! I was provided the opportunity to trial some of the items and only then did I discover that they've been available in Woolworths stores nationally since November last year. Talk about slow! The brand was originally created by Lilli Gordon back in 2009.

Fairytales & Fantasy + Giveaway Winners

A few weeks ago I attended a beautiful intimate gathering to celebrate the launch of the fall collection by Mary Kay. Aptly named Fairytales & Fantasy, the range is housed in gorgeous purple packaging with intricate detailing. Not only is this perfect for 'radiant orchid', purple also happens to be my favourite colour so I was instantly drawn.

Salon Melbourne 2014

Two weeks ago I attended Salon Melbourne - an annual hair and beauty trade show for those working in the industry. The exhibition is not open to the general public however I was invited along as media.

From my experience last year, I knew to expect a huge crowd so I arrived quite early at 10am on Sunday morning. It was already fairly packed though nothing like the afternoon from what I heard afterwards!

Comedy Show Date Night

Firstly - can you believe a quarter of the year has already escaped us? How is that possible! It honestly feels like 2014 just began but time is just slipping away so quickly!

The annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival just kicked off at the end of last week and I had the opportunity to attend a show on Saturday night. Although I have lived in Melbourne my entire life, I have never gotten around to checking out the Comedy Festival even though it's my intention every year. Luckily my friends at Candlelight Productions were kind enough to provide me with a double pass to see the Squeaky Clean On Yard Duty show on opening night.

Embrace Your Skin

Stem cells have always been a somewhat controversial topic when spoken in the context of skincare and cosmetics. I was therefore thankful to have the opportunity to hear about grape stem cells (Vitis Vinifera) from the experts at Enbacci. These stem cells have been found to effectively reduce the appearance of stress on the skin and act as a preventative measure against ageing.

Enbacci first launched in 2013 as a luxury skincare brand with a line of basics. They have since developed a 3-Step skincare routine utilising Vitis Vinifera grape stem cells suitable for both men and women, specifically designed for sensitive skin.

Illamasqua Glamore Collection

Hi guys! I hope everyone is doing well. A quick update before I jump into today's post. March has not been very nice to me so far. I was in a car accident last Saturday on my way up to a function in Yarra Valley (never made it) so that put a downer on the Labour Day long weekend. Then today I was taken to hospital via ambulance because the nurse at my usual GP overdosed me on the injections I get monthly, causing a really severe reaction. Very, very annoying but I'm in a stable condition. Fingers crossed that my year will go upwards from here... surely that's enough for one month??

You know that joyous feeling of receiving an unexpected gift? Well that's exactly how the wonderful team at ELES Cosmetics made me feel when I came home to this amazing package containing the new Brighton Nail Collection, inspired by the huts from Brighton Beach in the UK (which we also have at Melbourne's very own Brighton Beach).

Japan and China 13/14

From mid December to mid January, I was lucky enough to make a month-long trip to Asia, visiting Japan, China, Vietnam and Cambodia. I'm sure if you follow me on Instagram (@suelovexx), you would've seen snippets of my trip already. I had an amazing time and learnt so many different things about each country. Japan, Vietnam and Cambodia were all new for me so it was a wonderful and eye-opening experience. I could write an entire thesis on my travels but I'll let the photos express my thoughts. Look out for a future post on Cambodia and Vietnam!

Japan

I only went to Tokyo this time around but I would really love to return and travel more of Japan. I really enjoyed my short time there and the people were just lovely.

Lipstick Tag!

I have seen this tag going around the blogosphere and was inspired to do it after seeing it on one of my favourite blogs, sleepandwater. I'm a huge lip junkie though I've been quite good at resisting purchases lately, in an effort to use up my overflowing collection.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all the lovebirds out there! Regardless of whether you're in a relationship or not, I hope that everyone was able to spread the love and share the sentiment yesterday.

I had the perfect evening celebrating my fourth Valentine's Day with my man who surprised me with beautiful roses and tiramisu chocolates after work.

All About: Micellar Water (Bioderma, Garnier, Avene, Clarins)

Before I jump into this post I thought I'd address the new blog layout. I wanted a slight change for the new year and had a bit of a play over the weekend. I'm starting full time work this week after graduating uni 2 months ago so I wanted to tie up loose ends before then. I'm still tweaking it so let me know your thoughts!

--

One of the most well-known names in the beauty industry is Bioderma. It is synonymous with being a miracle cleanser and makeup remover. Today I thought I would do an overview of micellar water and discuss some of the different options we have available in Australia.

Micellar water is a great lightweight and effective way to clean your face without leaving the oily residue from traditional makeup removers. Originating from France, micellar refers to the tiny molecules of 'micelles' that dissolve unwanted particles from the face.

While I love Bioderma Créaline H2O, it is difficult to get your hands on at a reasonable price in Australia. It has recently been made available at Priceline and some select other pharmacies at a huge markup from the price you'd pay in France. Many people don't realise that there are alternatives out there. I have the Clarins, Garnier and Avène versions to share today. I am also aware of La Roche-Posay, L'Oréal Paris, Caudalie and Lancôme versions, not all available in Australia. The one thing all of these have in common is that they are all French skincare brands. I was interested to see if there was a difference between any of these, particularly comparing drugstore with high end.

Radiant Orchid: 2014 Pantone Colour

When I found out the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2014 was Radiant Orchid, I was more than a little excited. For the past few years, I didn't feel a personal connection with the annual colours but one that combines shades of fuschia, purple and pink completely embodies the theme of sue love xx.

I had a little dig around and was surprised to find that I don't have as many purple toned eyeshadows as I thought. I don't get enough wear out of these so 2014 is definitely the time to shine!

Earth Goddess: Summer 2014

Usually the colours I associate with Summer are bright, vibrant hues. This year however, I'm taking a moment to sit back and reflect on the Australian sun that beats down on our earthy ground. One of my favourite Australian mineral makeup brands, ELES Cosmetics have once again put together a gorgeous collection of products that are reminiscent of a hazy, warm Summer.

Asian Beauty Haul

After being away travelling Japan, China, Cambodia and Vietnam for one month, you can imagine how long it took me to unpack my luggage. Most of my space was reserved for clothes shopping and I tried to cut down on makeup as I'm running out of storage options at home! However I was most interested in purchasing Japanese beauty products as they are known for their impeccable skincare and high quality cosmetics.

I was very happy to find out that Shiseido is extremely affordable in Japan. The eyelash curlers were $5AUD, sharpener was $3 and replacement eyelash rubber pads 80c. Shu Uemura on the other hand was disappointingly on par with Australian prices.

Officially a Uni Graduate!

I am finally back in Melbourne after a month away travelling through Japan, China, Vietnam and Cambodia! I had an amazing trip and I'm sure you will hear more about them in future posts. I was greeted by scorching 40 degree weather so I'll be hibernating indoors until the cool change comes. In the meantime, I wanted to share some happy snaps from my uni graduation last month. It was a beautiful day at the Royal Exhibition Building!

Sydney

Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day!!!

I went to Sydney for a week at the end of November as a little post-exams getaway and thought I'd share some of the things we got up to. I have been twice before however we still did all the touristy stuff. As this is an image-heavy post, I'll let the pictures do the talking!

Play with Mary Kay

The lovely ladies at Mary Kay invited me to come along to their "Getting Gorgeous" pop up boutique event held over a week at Chadstone. The qualified make up artists at the booth did free mini makeovers on passerbys and customers were able to learn tips from the experts.

21st Birthday

I turned the big 2-1 early November and although it was smackbang in the middle of the university exam period, I was blessed to have been able to have some wonderful celebrations with my loved ones.
